A basic tip is to begin with the most generic shape, no need to go overboard with the details just yet. Keep in mind that human beings have a wide range of shapes and sizes, so there’s no best design template. It’s helpful to start with actual images of a male body to start the basic shaping. Choose a photo of a model that is clear about the limbs. An image of a person who is crossing his arms while sitting down would not be an obvious reference, as it lacks a clear distinct silhouette. Look for images that show a man running, or doing some other sporting exercise, in which the legs, arms and head are clearly visible and don’t overlap.
